The opportunity…
An exciting opportunity for a Full-time Product Specialist has recently become available within our Gastroenterology division at Device Technologies.
The role involves continuing the significant sales development of our Gastroenterology business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve sales targets and deliver KPI’s.
- Manage specified sales territories, consistently develop and grow the territory through engagement with existing and new customers
- This is a customer facing role and it is expected that at least 80% of time will be spent in the field.
- Manage key accounts and target customers.
- Understand customers objectives, buying criteria and decision-making processes to form long-standing mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Attend to customer enquiries and needs.
- Develop sales strategies and tactics in conjunction with the National Sales Manager, ensuring alignment to the approved marketing plan, as well as implementation of these strategies and tactics.
- Submit monthly sales reports inclusive of sales forecasting and market intelligence including competitor information by the due date.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and customer database including customer targeting within Sales Force.
- Provide product information, demonstrations and training to customers.
- Manage product trials
- Enhance case management abilities via ongoing development of procedural and product knowledge, i.e. continuous self-learning.
- Following each procedure attended, ensure debrief with Gastroenterologists’/Surgeons/ NUMs in order to:
- Establish likes/dislikes regarding product/procedure.
- Reaffirm their preference for DT products.
- Obtain additional business.
- Set (or re-set) their expectations regarding ongoing DT personnel case attendance.
- Manage Consignment stock.
- Specifically, focus on building meaningful business relationships with ‘new’ customers, given their higher potential for conversion to DT products.
- Be available (and suitably organised, i.e. carry appropriate samples etc.) to discuss business growth opportunities with customers whenever the opportunity arises.
- Accurately document all valid issues (e.g. product, procedural etc.) in Sales Force, and pass on information, in a timely fashion, to National Sales Manager.
- Monitor Hospital consignment stock levels, and expiry dates and act upon re ordering opportunities, comply with all stock keeping requirements per policy.
- Develop/execute Hospital set-up deals.
- Ensure all customers are equipped with product collateral as required.
- Ensure all sustainable business growth opportunities are followed-up in a timely manner:
- Chase-up outstanding PO’s as required (with a particular focus on end of month)
- Complete all administrative tasks by the due date.
- Attend exhibitions, conferences and seminars as directed.
- Additional duties, sales-related activities & travel as required from time to time

Experience required:
- You must have at least 2 years of Endoscopy/Gastroenterology experience preferably in a nursing or sales.
- Skills in sales, territory management, presenting, influencing and time management.
- Demonstrated competence in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Current valid driver’s license.
