The opportunity…
The National Sales Manager – Gastroenterology is responsible for spearheading national sales strategy, driving business growth, and leading a team of talented sales professionals. This role requires strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership capability, and deep understanding of the healthcare landscape.
You will partner closely with clinicians, procurement teams, and key opinion leaders to strengthen market presence while guiding your team toward sustainable success.
Sales Strategy, Market Growth & Performance
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Analyse sales data to identify performance trends, issues, competitor activity, and growth opportunities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor action plans to address performance gaps and drive sustainable sales growth.
- Track, evaluate, and refine sales initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and achievement of targets.
- Provide clear, data-driven reports, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
- Support the development of accurate sales forecasts and budgets and provide monthly reporting to Business Managers.
- Maintain territory plans and performance records using Salesforce, Power BI, and other reporting tools.
- Spend time in the field with the team as required/directed.
- Assist with planning and execution of industry conferences, exhibitions, and seminars.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with key accounts, clinicians, procurement teams, and KOLs.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, train, motivate, and support the team to achieve business goals.
- Ensure all team members have the necessary product knowledge, tools, and documentation to carry out their duties effectively.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the team to strengthen capability and improve performance.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and feedback sessions.
- Conduct Personal Growth discussions at least twice per year.
- Identify training needs, skill gaps, and development opportunities, implementing personal development plans and improvement actions in line with company policies.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and probation management to ensure strong talent selection and effective integration.
- Drive collaboration, accountability, and alignment across the team to ensure consistent execution of company sales strategies.
- Proactively manage performance issues, providing timely support and corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with all reporting, administrative, CRM, and stocktaking requirements.
People Management Responsibilities
- Influence and manage team performance against KPIs, business goals, and organisational objectives.
- Build engagement and morale through communication, recognition, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote, model, and strengthen organisational values, culture, and behaviours.
- Ensure effective adherence to all policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and relevant legislation.
- Manage REM reviews in line with Business Manager strategy and budget

Our ideal candidate for this role aligns with these values and is a strategic, influential, and commercially driven sales leader with a deep understanding of the healthcare and medical device landscape—particularly within gastroenterology, surgical, or related clinical specialties. Experience required:
- Minimum 5 years’ sales experience, preferably within the medical, surgical, and/or gastroenterology field.
- Demonstrated sales management experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to liaise effectively with senior professionals and stakeholders.
- Ability to travel extensively.
- Understanding of Device Technologies policies and procedures, including vaccination and background check requirements.
Desirable
- Experience in people management.
- Understanding of stock management principles, including consignment stock.
- Knowledge of TGA/regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience within the healthcare or medical device industry.
